My Indoor Garden varieties In Las Vegas

I was born and raised in Los Angeles and the climate is perfect for a garden. As I child I was able to witness my grandfather grow the most beautiful garden with his green thumb. His love of botany quickly became my love as well. I would watch him germinate his seeds and tend to his ever growing vegetable garden with care and love. The aroma was always so enticing to me. The taste was so much richer. Every bite was rewarding. It also fascinated me to see our food’s life cycle in real time. His gardening method was conventional due to our near perfect climate in LA.

After graduating from college I moved to the Las Vegas desert in 2012 and over the years have started many gardens. Some of which were successful and some were not. The method I chose was indoor conventional gardening in planters. Recently I started dabbling in hydroponics. Hydroponics is the technique of growing plants using a water-based nutrient solution rather than soil. I ordered my first growing system from RainPoint a few weeks ago and have been hooked ever since.

I like experimenting so in addition to my countertop hydroponic growing system I have Kratky mason jars, conventional planters in nutrient rich soil and self watering planters in nutrient rich soil.

It’s so rewarding watching my plants grow and tracking each growing methods progress. I think thus far the method i’m most interested in is hydroponics. As of now I’m growing cherry and roma tomatoes, pumpkin and two types of peppers. I look forward to tracking the progress!
