Getting Started on Reddit As a Sex worker

Reddit is a website where millions of people gather for conversations about the things they care about, in over 100,000 subreddit communities, and porn is no exception! Utilizing Reddit can be great for exposure and reaching a wider audience. The beauty of Reddit is, there’s communities for just about anything, from general to niche.

Step one: Create a free account. If you’re unfamiliar with how Reddit works, it’s ran by a “karma” system. On a fresh account you’ll have 0 or low karma. In order to gain karma you’ll need to engage with communities that interest you. (Here’s a list of NSFW subreddits. Follow the communities that would apply to it.) You most likely won’t be able to post photos and videos in these communities YET, but you can still comment. Commenting and engaging with people is the easiest way to receive upvotes, or karma. Refer to this video on the basics of Reddit. Your first post on your own page could be a verification photo of you with a written sign. This is common Reddit practice amongst models. I have a verification photo pinned to the top of my page here, which states my username, the date and some mention of Reddit.

Step two: After you’ve established your account with enough karma it’s finally time to start posting! Be aware that quite a lot of Reddit communities have rules. Some communities won’t allow you to post without x number of karma so refer to the sidebar or pinned post for the rules. Below you’ll find examples of rules from a few popular subreddits. To post an image simply click on the images tab. If you’re going to post a video on any NSFW subreddit it needs to be hosted on an approved site. Typically people use RedGIFS.com. Once you’ve uploaded your video, click the share link > copy link > then insert the link into a new post. Some communities may require you to add a “flair,” which is simply a tag.

Step three: Create your own subreddit. Having your own community on Reddit is vital for engaging with fans. Refer to this video in order to set one up. I find that having a community, supporters are able to verify it’s me and share their favorite photos and clips. It’s absolutely great for engagement and turning followers into paying customers!

Take away: Find niche communities that work for you. Engage with the community. Create consistent posts for your own subreddit. Verify yourself on your own page as well as in different communities.
